Bless you folks, you're still here !

I became an Ordained ULC Minister back sometime in the 80's - and I felt you all at my back supporting me in my new ministry. And then I lost track. I remember the ULC literature said my ordination credentials were good for life. So now here at 75 I'm trying to back track some history ( and for a book maybe ) I want to pick up my old ( and I assume ordination for life.). Please inform me...

It’s possible I am pushing through solid rock
in flintlike layers, as the ore lies, alone;

I am such a long way in I see no way through, and no space:

everything is close to my face,
and everything close to my face is stone.

I don’t have much knowledge yet in grief so this massive darkness makes me small.

You be the master: make yourself fierce, break in:

then your great transforming will happen to me,
and my great grief cry will happen to you.

As you probably suspect, your workflow is causing formatting problems for your blog. When you past from Word you are also pasting a lot of junk code that is deforming your blog posts. it can do more serious damage than that, but let’s not go there.

You began by asking about an ideal way of applying formatting, and that is not a bad way of stating the question. Ideally, you will use the template-wide settings (in template designer) to select things like: the standard typeface for your blog posts and your post headings, colors for backgrounds and for text, etc. Then you would apply local formatting as needed within blog posts, for instance italics, or the block-quote formatting that comes from clicking the quote tool on the toolbar of the blog-post-editing window.

Done this way, the global (blog-wide) formatting governs except for special spot formatting that you apply on a case-by-case basis. Should you ever want to change your global settings, for example a different typeface, the changes would then flow though to your entire blog.

If you want to compose in Word and/or paste from the web, under this workflow, you can do so if you strip away the formatting. The easiest way to do that is to perform the “paste” operation into the poste editor in HTML mode. Then switch back to Compose mode to apply local formatting, add line returns, and so forth.

A second method is to strip away the formatting using the Remove Formatting tool in the post editor. This button looks like a T with a red x next to it. You can also use this method to fix posts you’ve already published or have in draft.

I appreciate that you probably like the workflow that you’ve been using! But as you can see it is causing you problems, and I commend the alternative to you.

I hope this is helpful.

Suggestions:

2. To remove MS Word's unwanted formatting from your posts

3. Edit the post/s concerned - where you copied & pasted text from MS Word - via "Compose" mode 4. With your mouse cursor within the post editor > press > Ctrl A > on your keyboard > that should select everything 5. Then click > T with the red x > in the top section menu > that is the > "Remove Formatting" tool > that should remove the unwanted formatting 6. While in HTML mode, remove unnecessary line breaks to reduce the gap between paragraphs 7. Format the text - where necessary; paragraphs, images - etc within Blogger, then update If using MS Word it is suggested to: 8. Change the line spacing

The easiest way to change the line spacing for an entire document is to apply a Quick Style set that uses the spacing that you want. If you want to change the line spacing for a portion of the document, you can select the paragraphs and change their line spacing settings.

Use a style set to change line spacing for an entire document

1. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Change Styles.

2. Point to Style Set, and point to the various style sets. Using the live preview, notice how the line spacing changes from one style set to the next.

For example, the Traditional and Word 2003 style sets use single-spacing. The Manuscript style set uses double spacing.

3. When you see spacing that you like, click the name of the style set.

Change the line spacing in a portion of the document

1. Select the paragraphs for which you want to change the line spacing.

2. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click Line Spacing.

3. Do one of the following:

o Click the number of line spaces that you want.

For example, click 1.0 to single-space with the spacing that is used in earlier versions of Word. Click 2.0 to double-space the selected paragraph. Click 1.15 to single-space with the spacing that is used in Word 2010.

o Click Line Spacing Options, and then select the options that you want under Spacing. See the following list of available options for more information.

Line spacing options

Single This option accommodates the largest font in that line, plus a small amount of extra space. The amount of extra space varies depending on the font that is used.

1.5 lines This option is one-and-one-half times that of single line spacing.

Double This option is twice that of single line spacing.

At least This option sets the minimum line spacing that is needed to fit the largest font or graphic on the line.

Exactly This option sets fixed line spacing, expressed in points. For example, if the text is in a 10-point font, you can specify 12 points as the line spacing.

Multiple This option sets line spacing that can be expressed in numbers greater than 1. For example, setting line spacing to 1.15 will increase the space by 15 percent, and setting line spacing to 3 increases the space by 300 percent (triple spacing).

Note If a line contains a large text character, graphic, or formula, Word increases the spacing for that line. To space all lines evenly within a paragraph, use exact spacing and specify an amount of space that is large enough to fit the largest character or graphic in the line. If items appear cut off, increase the amount of spacing.

Change the spacing before or after paragraphs

The easiest way to change the spacing between paragraphs for an entire document is to apply a Quick Style set that uses the spacing that you want. If you want to change the spacing between paragraphs for a portion of the document, you can select the paragraphs and change their spacing-before and spacing-after settings.

Use a style set to change paragraph spacing for an entire document

1. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Change Styles.

2. Point to Style Set, and point to the various style sets. Using the live preview, notice how the line spacing changes from one style set to the next.

For example, the Word 2003 style set inserts no extra space between paragraphs and a small amount of space above headings. The Word 2010 style set adds 10 points after a Normal paragraph and 24 points before a heading paragraph.

3. When you see spacing that you like, click the name of the style set.

Use the paragraph spacing options to change the spacing

After you apply a style set, you can customize the spacing by using the new paragraph spacing options. When you click one of these options, it overrides the line and spacing settings of the style set.

1. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Change Styles.

2. Point to Paragraph Spacing, and then click the option that you want.

Paragraph spacing options

The spacing listed in this table is based on Calibri, 11-point text.

It’s possible I am pushing through solid rock
in flintlike layers, as the ore lies, alone;

Copy and paste the text from MS Word into "Notepad" - plain text editor - which removes the unwanted formatting 9. For a Mac the equivalent to Notepad is textedit 10. Then copy and paste the text from "Notepad/textedit" into the post 11. Format the content within blogger 12. And publish Or 13. If using Google Chrome / Firefox and MS Word or similar 14. Copy the text from MS Word or similar 15. Go to the post editor > then use the keyboard keys > CTRL + SHIFT + V > to place your text without any of the unwanted formatting into the post

"With the drawing forth of this Love

and the Voice of this Calling . . .

We shall not cease from exploration,

And the end of all our exploring

will be to arrive where we started,

And know the place for the first time.

Through the unknown, unremembered gate

When the last of earth left to discover

is that which was the beginning"

"Just as a drop of water falling into the great ocean

Is never depleted even before the ocean ever dries up –

Likewise, with the full 'Intent' I now dedicate to Awakening,

will never be depleted before my Enlightenment is fully attained."

" By learning the ‘Path of Wisdom-Silence’ you can

Break through the illusory world of 'worldly' words

( and break through the world of 'other-worldly' words too )

So that The Wordless Flower of 'Just Being' may bloom.

Just allow yourself to become suddenly still, inside and out,

So that you may pierce through the thin shell of the 'World',

And now fill the entire cosmos with your own truly Free Mind.

So the healing of you and thus the healing of the world may begin."
